This program is required for Certified Nursing Assistants in every 2-year license period, and elective for other disciplines.

This course focuses on the mandates of the 1987 Nursing Home Reform Act and its impact on a variety of adult care settings, the patient/resident rights identified in the “Resident’s Bill of Rights,” the definitions for various types of restraints, restrictions on restraints and risks of restraints, therapeutic interventions to optimize cognition and physical function, expressions of patient/resident respect, the obligation to safeguard the property and funds of patients and residents, issued related to medications, and the role of the Ombudsman.
