Medical Error Prevention & Safety for CNAs

This is an elective This program is required for Certified Nursing Assistants in every 2-year license period. This requirement is found in the Florida Administrative Code, Chapter/Section 64B9-15.011. This course is elective for other Nurses and Nursing Home Administrators.
Course content defines “medical error,” and explores the prevalence and types of medical errors occurring annually in the United States. Explanations of treatment errors, preventive errors, and “near misses” are provided, as well as errors that may occur if levels of activity of daily living (ADL) assistance are not universally understood. The role of communication between Certified Nursing Assistants and Nurses in preventing errors is explored.
