Free Technology Helps Stuart Police Find Wandering Dementia Patients in Minutes | WPBF 25 News

August 18, 2026 Press

Wandering affects an estimated 60 to 70 percent of people living with dementia — and it almost always happens without warning.

Alzheimer’s Community Care President and CEO David Franklin joined Stuart Police Chief Flamur Zenelovic on WPBF 25 News to discuss a new partnership bringing free locating technology to families across the Stuart area.

The newest option, the Tranquil Watch, is worn on the wrist and secured so it cannot be removed by the participant. It displays the wearer’s location on a dashboard accessible to Stuart PD and partnering agencies, and it calls the caregiver directly the moment a loved one wanders — so a search that once started from scratch now starts with a location.
